Thanksgiving

Well, Thanksgiving weekend, despite some events, was pretty decent. Lunch and dinner with the family, Catey and her husband have been here for a while, although they leave tomorrow morning to go back to Hawaii.

The shopping season has begun as of Black Friday...this year is the first year that I've really noticed Black Friday (odd huh). Course the front of the local paper portrayed a local hero (and I use that word liberally) who arrived at Target at 5AM in waiting for their 6AM early opening for Black Friday (wow...).

Well...back to work...I'm glad I had 4 days to basically sleep...especially after certain occurances. I played World of Warcraft most of the time...how exciting neh? Off I go to the Post Office/Dry Cleaners/Food Lion/perhaps construction place...cough.

I couldn't resist

"I was trying to escape...it didn't work." The president said as he walked from the door.

Also: Do you think he knows it's a robot?

News

Well...it looks like this weekend was just a good news time for everyone...well...everyone else...

My sister officially has passed the California Bar Exam...woo hoo! One less weight...well...yes, big weight.

My cousin, Catey, is officially pregnant (when someone is unofficially pregnant it causes problems I would imagine, and no I do not know when she's due/what percentage pregnant she is...hmm...

Seems like my family doesn't really care if I make pie(s) this year, my grandmother was simply talking about going out and buying some pies...so...that made me feel real good...I'll make a damn pie for myself and one for Sherilyn when she gets back from New York.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was...a disappointment, I was expecting more from StageStruck, but Sherilyn told me that their direction isn't exactly good...they just kind of say stand here...and then let you talk. The Oompa Loompas were...rappers...that's right rappers, so they did the "songs" as little chants basically. The guy that played Willy Wonka was pretty good though, and he seemed to be having fun. Bad Stage direction though, of course my view for the first act was mostly taken up by some fat guy's head. Was really short too...the first act was only a half hour...

Well...that's all for now...

Fwa

Well...hello, another boring day at work, boss decided to stay in Greensboro for another day.

It's finally raining again, which also means that my car is going to leak again, and not just anti-freeze. Most likely need a part in Raleigh/Cary (huh...sun just came out).

More World of Warcraft, character is level 32 now...woo hoo.

I still don't realize how close Thankgiving is, hopefully it will be nice...maybe I should make a trip of Raleigh for my car and for pie concocting materials...probably a good idea actually, once again...just wish I had company for it...oh well.

Wish I was going to be 21 before I visit Moab...that way I could rent a car and drive to Denver for a weekend...but alas...I will return to Goldsboro a month before that date.

Back at Work

Well, there were two nice things to walk into work today after not being here for nearly a week. One, a paycheck, and two, no boss...apparently he is at some tax course in Greensboro today so it's nice to have a day of slowly getting back into things after being sick.

I was just about all better Friday, but still a little out of it and my throat still hurt. I feel great now...besides the usual tiredness of work in the morning which I will continue to solve (inefficiently) with coffee.

My boss is going to New York for Thanksgiving (to my knowledge...that could probably change easily), Sherilyn is also going to New York for Thanksgiving with her folks...I'm jealous of all these people going to New York, and I terribly want to see The Producers.

I leave for Moab in a little over a month...there will be no weekend trip(s) to Denver or Boulder to see a couple people that could not leave, just not possible. So...Moab, alone, bored, come see me.

Life is great but frustrating at the same time...

Have more ideas for portfolio, it would seem like I would have time to do something on it while sick eh? But, besides the majority of my time spent in bed, the only urge I got to work on it was at about 3:30am on Saturday (or...Sunday I guess), and at that time I was trying to tell myself to sleep.

Blegh
(background noise: Mississippi Fred McDowell - You Got to Move)

Well...I have officially recovered from my first sickness of the season. I'm not sure what it was, felt like a combination of bad food, sore throat, and just pain.

But...feeling much better now.

Not much to say, considering not much has happened since Tuesday. I've been in bed most of the time.

Hopefully this weekend will prove to have events that inspire eh?

Pie!

I forgot to mention, during each performance of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, I consumed half a pumkin pie...so over the course of four days, I ate two whole pies...thanks to Sandra for making me one every night. People keep asking me if I'm sick of pumkin pie now, I'm definitely not. In fact, I barely even realize I ate all that pie, since it was mostly on stage.

I want to eat more on stage, lol...

Big laughs:
- The witches (especially Ana's "Ooogly Boogly!")
- Daryl's (Hanz) "patdown" of me while I'm being mugged
- Sean's (Baltus) "spittake" when I pat him on the shoulder
- Each whipping of my students
- Slapping my hand hard with a ruler and making a small ouch sound
- When I first take a nice fork right out of my suit pocket to eat my delicious pumpkin pie
- My first scream (and all screams afterwards)
- My rabbits' feet and horseshoe (my "trinkets to ward off evil, apparently thanks to Tiffany)
- Brian's (Brom) evil laugh/cough
- Sherilyn (April) throwing a blanket on the witches to come greet me
- Richie Bam-Bam's (Oltho) and Kelly's (Rose) dance...you guys are great
- My response to the possibility of a scary story (Katrina: "Every year someone tells a scary story, would you like to tell the story?" Me: "Oh Heavens no...in fact...I don't even want to hear the story" *laughter*)
- Sherilyn's (April) "father's sword" being much too heavy for me, when she's holding it upright with one hand
- My entire interaction with the headless horseman: screaming, trying to lift the sword, my trinkets again, Reynold's (the headless horseman) blind man walking stick/sword gag, running into the tree, falling, more screaming
- Scott (The old gnarled tree)...just scott...all his movement.

Wai...Wha?

The End...The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is officially over. We had good nights and bad...Saturday's audience was atrocious, but Friday's was absolutely excellent.

'Twas over so quickly and now already seems so far away. I'm looking back at Sleepy Hollow as I look back on Wizard of Oz...that's how far away it seems.

CST has lots of little offerings here and there for things to do until the next production. We are most likely going to do a Christmas float in the parade, which I may help out with. The airforce base wants us to do a dinner theatre specifically for them...which...I probably wouldn't be able to help out with unfortunately. Speaking of the next production, it will be Death of a Salesman. Here's the bad part...auditions are about 3 days before I get back from my Moab trip...so I talked to Cathy (who has now been announced as the director) about maybe auditioning early before I leave...even though that would be 3 weeks before they announced parts...

After that is Music Man, which more and more people are wanting me to do...I'll look into it, and I need to watch the movie.

Yay for Sandman in Spiderman 3...can't wait...although it comes out in 2007...so...yeah...waiting.

PSP Advance

So there's this new program called PSP Advance. It promises full media compatibility with the PSP i.e. the ability to play .AVI .MPEG1 .MPEG2 .MP3 .MOV with DIVX and XVID codecs. This would be great considering most of my media collection is not in the nativ .MP4 format the PSP requires.

I will have to try this program later when I have some time, since I am at work. Unfortunately their website doesn't point out some major things about the program and doesn't provide any screenshots besides a couple slanted ones in their logo and such. The biggest question I have is: does this program allow the files to be played directly off the PSP? or do you need to be connected to your PC via a WI-FI connection to play them?

Another interesting thing about this program is that it appears to be a sort of filesharing network as well...able to download .MP3s and such from other users...but once again...I have to figure out how the hell it works later. Maybe I'll try to view this "How To" guide on their site...if it ever loads.

Sony also released it's PSP Media Manager software which is long overdue, but nice it seems. Hopefully Christmas time will mark some sort of release of interesting add-ons for the PSP...hopefully.

Opening Night

Opening night went well...the audience was few and far between, and kind of dead...but we warmed them up a bit before the show ended, and I got a few good laughs.

No major screw-ups, had to repeat myself once or twice...and I hate that the daughters' names are Katrina and Kristina...so easy to mix and match incorrectly...but oh well...

Another show tonight of course...we'll see, it's fun...much better with an audience.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Tonight is opening night of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow...which, for those of you who don't know (most of you do), I am Ichabod Crane in.

'Tis tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday at 8PM and Sunday at 3PM at Herman Park Center.

Car...back in my possession...don't really know...no problems right now.

Catey is back in town, along with her husband...woo hoo best cousin ever. Speaking of...wish I could have made it to Raleigh to see Jonathan and Death Cab for Cutie last week...but I didn't have any company, and it was a week before opening night, so I needed to be at rehearsal (which I have officially missed NONE of). Well...wish me luck...as I have actually heard more than "break a leg" today...

Sleepy

Oooh...sleepy.

Thanks for the call back last night Zack...I just...kind of was just passing out in bed when you called.

Kevin...call me before...tomorrow, if you can.

Must find out the status of my car, still don't have it back. Should have it today I would imagine, if not...then...I'll get it back anyway and deal with the problem, since they don't know what it is anyway.

Ugh...it's only Wednesday, although the rest of the week should go by quickly.

Opening night is tomorrow...woo hoo!

Serenity

Since my reply to Zack's comment on Serenity started to get lengthy, I decided to just post it:

I never saw Firefly, but I've seen small amounts of Buffy and Angel and despised them...that was my reasoning for not expecting much from this movie...as I said, I expected fun, but not an impressive movie.

But I really was impressed, the music was perfect, the dialog was quick and witty, and never seemed awkward. Also, shortly into the movie, I realized that the entire first sequence of the interior of the "boat" is a Master Shot...no cuts whatsoever, just continuous dialog and acting...plus I'm sure some extra hard camera work (never realized how hard some of these moving camera shots are, with tracks, and cranes, keeping it all smooth...watching the commentary on Little Shop of Horrors made me realize a little because Frank Oz was talking about using a crane, on a crane, on a track...lol).

Much of it also reminded me of a live action version of many good anime series I've seen...Captain Mal definitely reminded me of the main character, Gene Starwind, in Outlaw Star, course...his pistol looked almost exactly the same...

I only have two complaints, both of which are kind of spoilers...just wondering why a certain person had to die, and why the devil Mal didn't aim for the guy's head when he whipped out his pistol.

Secrets

I really wish I could type everything in my head right now. The thoughts are quite plentiful and exhilarating. Unfortunately, due to the readers of my blog...I cannot express them openly and can only tell a select few...or...barely anyone in fact. If things go how I want, then eventually it will not be a problem.

I am quite happy right now, although tired...and at work.

Once again The Legend of Sleepy Hollow opens this Thursday, the 3rd. Last night definitely confirmed that it was a Monday as I had not run my lines all weekend and forgot a couple of them, but simply tried to keep moving and tried to shrug it off. Even if it is three days before we open, I don't have a problem with someone spacing on one line or two because it's been four days since even considering them. Tonight...no excuses though.

I am kind of ready to have some time on weekdays again, to relax, be utterly lazy, and hopefully do some more graphics and webwork. Unfortunately, this probably does mean I'll see Sherilyn less, since I mostly see her at rehearsal every night.

My car is still at T&M Foreign Cars, they can't find the problem, and haven't encountered the same problems as I have. Fortunately one of the problems happened when I arrived at their shop, so...they know it's there. It's kind of odd to bring them the key to the car, and then bring them outside to a car that's still running...when the key is in their hand. Unfortunately this means I have to depend on other transportation...mostly involving getting rides...

Moab in another month and a half, I don't want to go.

Thanksgiving in about three weeks...should I do the turkey again this year? Another pie? mmm...pie...

Speaking of mmm...I need to drink this coffee. I also want some sort of expresso maker so I can learn how to make good coffee, but have a lack of funds to purchase one.

I hope today goes quickly.

Quicknote to Kevin, I love you, I miss you, I wish I could be around for you. If you can't come down to Moab at any point while I'm there, I will come see you at least for a couple days...course I have no way of knowing when or if you'll read this (I hope you keep somewhat up to date on my blog). I wish there was more I could do for you, but I really don't know where to start. Hang in there Kev. The only reasons I even accepted this trip to Moab was the possibility of seeing you and Lisa, course I'd love to see a couple others as well...
