(background noise: Filter - Take a Picture)

Bad news...we can't do Little Shop of Horrors in the fall because it's too close to the time that it's touring through Raleigh. There's a 6 month wait period and we would be like 2 weeks early...which is sad.

In better news, I'm almost done with my portfolio for the San Francisco Art Institute. Tomorrow I have to call old Grand County High and also Mesa State to get my transcripts sent. I still have to write my 1-2 page self-introduction, I'm trying to think of what to say.

I also found out that I would probably enjoy a computer tech job, mostly because time seems to go a lot faster when I'm working on a problem on a computer. I set up a computer at Sasser Golf Cars in the last two days, transferring all their data and such, so that gave me kind of a glimpse.

Crap...I stole another one

I have to go see The Aviator now. I was putting it off...but since this morning's Oscar nominations (11 for The Aviator, including Best Picture) I think it's in line. I also must go see Phantom of the Opera. I am so glad that Kate Winslet is nominated for best actress in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind and hope she wins, and Johnny Depp for best actor in Finding Neverland. It looks like there's good competition though, especially with Jamie Foxx in Ray. Of course if Eternal Sunshine doesn't win best original screenplay, something will be very very wrong. I also hope that Ray receives the honor of best picture.

Ugh...tonight just seems like a lonely night. Sometimes it catches up with me.

But anway, off to bed and work in the morning.

Snow!

It snowed here! Woo!

Well...I don't really have that reaction to it, it's damn cold here now, and it only snowed like half an inch (freaks people out here though..."oh my god! snow! ahh! we're all gonna die!")

Ahh!

My hair...is so short. Quite possibly the shortest it's ever been. Short enough to spike (although I would NEVER do that). Obviously the phrase "still want some length" has a different meaning here. Oh well, it doesn't look too horrible, and it should grow out a bit quickly.

I'm trying to find out how to set up a VPN (Virtual Private Network) Tunnel in Windows NT. It seems simple enough.

I am really running into some problems with the older woman that works here. We actually just got into a small verbal clash. I'm not sure what it is about her. Some people have told me it's because she fears losing her job to me, but I doubt that she'd have anything to fear considering she's been with Sherif for a while and knows all his little quirks, plus knows all of his set up a hell of a lot better than I do. Unfortunately she's not exactly willing to teach me anything so I always have to double check a lot of things with my boss so I don't get yelled at later for not having good communication with her.

Everyone's hard of hearing in this office except for my boss (and the new guy Geoffrey, since he's pretty young). I constantly have to repeat myself, which can get annoying. I try to be very clear and audible, but it's usually not loud enough. My boss and I chuckle sometimes about people's reactions when they can't hear. For example "he can't hear worth a shit" with a response from the hall of "huh?" and then laughter. My boss IS kind of an ass-hole sometimes to people, but he's also very intelligent and he knows both of those, but that's how he gets his work done.

I came to the office early today. Of course, there's a disadvantage to that: I have to wait for someone with a key, and then I get questioned by the woman why I'm here early, lol. I think she means well, but I think any irritation that she has at all comes out in any sentence she says, even if she's trying to be nice.

Back to work, waiting for my boss to get here. I have some questions for him so I can get some more stuff out of the way.

I would have killed for "tappa tappa tappa"

I need to acquire another recommendation letter for the SFAI. I'm not sure who else to contact though. If worst comes to worst, I will probably end up asking my boss for a letter. However, I don't know if he would ever get around to it.

What's better?

I have had very random dreams lately...however I should not disclose them on here.

Suggestions for what to do for my birthday?

I need to get a tablet for my computer, sometimes drawing something by hand instead of with a mouse is just a lot easier. The problem is finding a decent one under $300, although the expensive ones have a much larger pad, which would be useful.

I also need to find a good presentation folder for my portfolio, and to find a decent printer in town to make some decent prints.

p.s. Does anyone need a Gmail account?

Topic/Subject/Heading
(background noise: UPS Truck?)

Here I am, at work. I may actually be meeting some people my age soon, which would definately be good. Let's make a list out of it

Good News:
- May meet people my age
- Tara definately planning trip out here next month
- Parents also probably planning trip out next month
- The Man Who Came to Dinner will keep me busy until late February
- Auditions for Wizard of Oz are right after that
- Working on applications for San Francisco Art Institute and UNC Chapel Hill
- It's Friday

Bad News:
- May not meet people my age
- Man Who Came to Dinner may become boring
- Still no word on a raise
- Might start looking for better/higher paying job
- Need to start and finish working on a portfolio for SFAI
- Tax season is coming up...and I work in an accounting office
- It's Friday...and there's nothing entertaining for me to do during the weekend

Well...while we're on lists, let's make a to do list:
- Create Portfolio for San Francisco Art Institute
- Send in Portfolio along with Application
- Send requests for letters of recommendation for SFAI
- Make trips to Chapel Hill to explore campus and meet department heads
- Acquire all information needed for UNC application for next spring
- Look for higher paying job, hopefully in computer tech field
- Eat breakfast
- Make to do lists more often, and do them

Hmmm?

Ok...who answered Episode III on the mini-poll...gag. Why would anyone see that except out of pity for the series and the hope of seeing exquisite special effects (reasons that I will see it for). Someone answered Harry Potter as well...I can understand some people's obsession with that series (especially with the scrumptious last addition of The Prisoner of Azkaban), so I validate that answer. However, Star Wars has lost it's famous image, and it's unfortunate that it's creator, George Lucas, was the one to lose it. God I hate him. Ever notice how when you ask the question "What is your favorite of the Star Wars movies?" no one ever answers A New Hope or Episode I or II, they all say Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi, you know the reason? Because George Lucas didn't direct those...see any connection? huh? huh??

I was just sitting around and I thought of a funny quote from Sean last year.

Sean: "I must go sleep."
Me: "Sleep is for the weak!"
Sean: "Well...what is today?"
Me: "Um...Tuesday?"
Sean: "And Tuesday is a day of the...?"
Me: "Week?"
Sean: "Exactly."
Me: "Oh...damn."

Also another good quote, someone wandering into auditions. "Gah...bad paint." That, along with a bodily movement like a cat sneezing adds up to be a pretty funny thing to happen while someone is passing by.

"Any Zombies out there?"
"Don't say that!"
"Don't say what?"
"The Zed word"

Mmm...Shaun of the Dead (sorry it's not spelled correctly Sean, I know...just smack Kevin, he originally wanted to spell your name Shawn or something like that).

The Man Who Came to Dinner
(background noise: Benny Benassi - Inside of Me)

I am Richard Stanley in The Man Who Came to Dinner, probably all that I could have hoped for in my age group.

There is a new mini-poll...lot of answers, make a careful decision.

Work

And...back at work. My boss is gone today, I had no idea he would be. That means refining some research for some computer prices I was checking out for him and not much else.

I'm still kind of out of it, but oh well.

I'll find out what part I got in The Man Who Came to Dinner at some point in the near future, my next post will be about that. I expect to get an call or an email on it today or during the weekend since rehearsal starts Monday. There aren't any real good parts for anyone around my age, so I know I'm not getting a large part, but that means I'm still involved and can look forward to Oz and Little Shop.

It's nice to see that most people here judge by character and not religious beliefs, not exactly what I'm used to, makes me very happy.

Loved seeing all the Center Stage Theater people again, they all missed me, lol. I heard a few of the woman involved with it wish I was about 10 years older...oh dear. Fortunately I won't have to work with a bunch of kids who have A.D.D. during this play though...that deserves a sigh of relief. Well...back to work, I shall update as soon as I know.

Confusion!
(background noise: Benny Benassi - Satisfaction)

I may have finally met someone who is literally insane. I don't know what the devil is going on and I'm not sure how to react. I usually know how a person will react, but this has caused me to completely re-think what to do because this person is not thinking like the usual person.

Auditions went well last night, I won't know what's going on until Thursday or Friday though, of course I'll go again tonight. They had me reading for the part of Richard. I like a lot of these parts because they're so simple. I mean, in The Homecoming I was a person who wanted to be a writer and was all around "impractical." Richard wants to be a photographer and travel the world. These parts aren't exactly a stretch eh? It's kind of sad that there aren't any parts that I'd really have to change myself for...That's why I'm looking forward to Wizard of Oz. Oh...And get ready for this...The first production their doing next year is Little Shop of Horrors! They ended up not being able to do Grease (thank god...LOL) and now are doing Little Shop...I'm just hoping no one thinks I am too young for the part of Seymour. I'll audition for that...and I will sing something from the play so if nothing else...THAT would probably get me the part, cause I can sing those songs REALLY well.

I dunno

Happy late new year.

Happy 2nd anniversary to my blog (sorry, didn't do anything special this year).

Sarah and I stopped everything last night, it was inevitable. Her parents are immovable objects and there's no way I, or she, would want her to sneak around. Since we never see each other, and probably won't be able to any time soon, we decided that it was just better to stop it before it gets too painful for us.

I just cut myself shaving...on my upper lip...it hurts, lol. I kind of wasn't paying attention for a second. I'm going to work in about a half hour, so I'm trying to make that stop bleeding and get my hair somewhat dry before I leave.

Auditions for The Man Who Came to Dinner are tonight...wish me luck.
