Walmart Messages

My total at Walmart last night was once again 19.84...different items, same outcome.

Practice went well last night, made a friend in Western Civ today (yay), group paper for that class coming up (I despise group projects in school)...there is a girl in my group who is very attractive, but I want to smack her cause she's so dumb, and I see signs of her being condescending towards less attractive, therefore less important people *smack again*.

Master Debaters

It seems that the presidential debates will be almost scripted. So much for the idea of "thinking on your feet"...which I was really looking forward to. All issues and questions are written and are sent to the candidates before hand...way before hand.

I was hoping to have the opportunity to see Bush's stupidity some more...or even a truthful amount of it. However it seems like I will have to live with the ever popular scripted and choppy ill-pronouncing bastard again.

This is both a good, and bad thing for John Kerry. It ALSO gives him a chance to prepare his answers and be overly-ready for the debates, but does not give him a chance to show his intelligence over Bush. For George W. Bush this is a win/win situation.

At Work

Here I am at work, looking at CNN...Sherif had me type up two letters for him, but apparently he didn't bet that I could type as fast as I can, so I have little to do right now. Actually, I finished typing and he didn't believe me, he though that I had found a template or something on our server...lol. Ha, the amazing typing speed of me.

So, back to CNN...I came across this in my wanderings...doesn't this leave out a few things though? Give me your thoughts.

Elections
(background music: Death Cab for Cutie - Death of an Interior Decorator)

I will soon take down my mini-poll for the elections...I left it up for three reasons: wanted to see how many votes I could get, what the views are of a few people that read my blog are, and, of course, because I couldn't think of a new one to put up :P

I learned two interesting things yesterday that George W. Bush has caused as a result of the past 4 years (Bubble...I know you will get a big kick out of both of these...hope they cheer you up after not being able to see Kerry while he was in Philadelphia):

1. My grandfather, who says his favorite president was the first George Bush and a big fan of both Reagan and Nixon, told me that he is voting for Kerry, an even bigger surprise than the original comment that he wasn't going to vote for Bush (and therefore not going to vote for anyone).

2. My father, who has never voted in a national election (only in primaries before) is officially voting this year. He registered and is voting in Utah...hopefully a lot of you other Utes will not use the phrase "but Utah always goes republican" and actually make your vote count this year, even though Utah probably WILL go republican...lol...but you never know until you try, right sir? If there are enough people like me, my father, and most of my close friends in Utah (and they actually VOTE)...then there could very well be a chance for the state to swing.

It seems like any state could very well swing, except maybe Florida at this point after being hit by so many hurricanes they're bound to go republican.

I just wish Nader would get the hell out of this race, because in most polls I've seen, Nader takes 2%...and Kerry is trailing Bush (I still don't believe why Bush would be ahead in the polls) by, imagine that, 2%.

p.s. Best search results with my blog today on google: "how can i get a mini poll for my blog"

Yay
Iskander CPA, this is Vincent speaking. How may I help you?

I officially got the lead in the Center Stage (community theater) production of The Homecoming (not by Pinter...) The play is based on the same book that The Waltons was based on. If you are familiar with the show (as I am not) I am Clay-Boy...or in the Waltons I guess I would have been John-Boy. Many lines to learn...a couple full pages of only my dialog.

The new job is going very well. Everyone's warning me that Sherif will yell at me soon, and to not pay attention to it. I heard him yelling at one of the employees today...it was comical actually. He seems like a VERY intelligent man, and knows what he's doing...which is rare. I have become half-receptionist and arrend-bitch..lol.

My first day consisted of cleaning the coffee maker, answering the phone, making runs to Walmart, the Post Office, and the Bank. Then I drove to Clayton High School (about a forty minute drive) with the other guy that works there (Jim Carter) in Sherif's Lexus to pick up Jim's car. Then I drove Sherif's Lexus back to Goldsboro.

Today...much of the same, a lot more answering the phone, post office runs, went to get Sherif's prescription (which caused problems...cause the information on his account there was different than what he gave me...but oh well, it got straightened out). Locked my keys in my car, need to get another key made...duh...got in pretty quickly, (one of the advantages of having a grandfather in the car business, he knows a lot of people and he knows how to make them to things quickly).

I work 9-5 Monday-Friday (except Tuesday Thursday when I have class so I come in around 1:30)...a real office job...I SIT for most of the time, and I actually have an hour lunch break. As opposed to Billie's where I stood up for 9 hours and looked at food I couldn't eat unless I still paid for it.

Play practices start on Monday...they will be Monday thru Thursday at 7-9...can't wait.

Once again...I have watched many movies since my last update of posters, I will update them eventually...but until then:

Goodbye Lenin! - 4 Stars
Dummy - 4 Stars
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - 4 1/2 Stars
50 First Dates - 2 1/2 Stars
The Perfect Storm - 2 1/2 Stars
Shaun of the Dead - 4 Stars
Resident Evil: Apocalypse - 3 1/2 Stars
Rock Horror Picture Show - 5 Stars
Tattoed Life - 4 Stars
Darkside Blues - 2 Stars
Russian Ark - 2 1/2 Stars

New Job

I officially have been hired by Sherif Iskander, an accountant. I am doing to receptionist work, arrend boy, clean up...maybe some bookkeeping later.

I am actually at work now at the front desk...so I'm gonna go.

Going back to auditions tonight at 7, find out which part I get tonight or tomorrow morning...excited.

Went to Wilmington with Catey last night, saw an improv comedy show (wasn't too good).

p.s. Happy Birthday to Kassi yesterday (since I was gone and didn't have a chance to post anything yesterday)

Theater
(background music: Jimmy Eat World - Pain)

Well, I officially quit my job at Billie's so I could take part in the community theater. I went to the audition for The Homecoming yesterday and today. I find out which part I have on Friday...I'm hopeful, but trying not to fill my head with false expectations.

My job at Billie's looks like it will probably be replaced by a day job with an accountant here. It would allow me to have much better hours and, of course, take part in the theater.

Little Shop of Horrors is going to be in Raleigh this May. One of the women I met at the audition (who has been part of the community theater for some time) told me that she would get the number of a man who has been putting on many plays with groups there. As some of you know it is a dream of mine to be Seymour in Little Shop...so if I could get in touch with the group putting on the play...that would be great. It's something I could look forward to seeing, even if I did not become a part of it.

My total at Walmart tonight was 19.84 :O

Read two more short stories dealing with Ender Wiggin today (or rather, his parents). I love the Ender's Game series and the Shadow Series, can't wait for the fourth shadow book and of course the Ender's Game movie, which hopefully won't get fucked up. Orson Scott Card wrote the first draft of the screenplay...so that says something. The second draft is being worked on by the two guys who did the screenplay for X-Men 2...which also says something. Wolfgang Petersen (Troy, The Perfect Storm, Das Boot, Enemy Mine) has been slated as the director...shaky track record...but could pull it off (I hope, I hope).

I'm actually getting tired now (imagine that...at like midnight), probably because I didn't work today so my time frame isn't all fucked up by the fact that I went to work at 3 and usually got out at 11:30...or the amount I worked this weekend...but yeah.

Work Again
(background music: Filter - Hey Man Nice Shot)

My week of intense work is over, thank god. I have survived and it turned up ok in the end. Today I went in at 10a.m., amazingly got a break at 2:30 until 4:30 (probably only because the real boss was there, otherwise I would have been screwed). She actually wanted me to come back in at 5, but I decided to come early because I knew my line wouldn't be set unless I did it...and that needs to be done before we open at 5. Got out pretty early today...11:30ish. Yesterday was much worse than today.

I'm getting tired of the "suggestions" or "consoling" people try to pull with me when I tell them I haven't made any friends here. Yes, I want to get attention when I say it...however I do not want people telling me that "friends will come" or that I just have to get out there and meet people. Don't know one person who hasn't said that except maybe my sister, because she lived here for a while and knows the problem quite well...lol.

Need to get a new stereo in my car. You can't read anything on the display of the default one. When I turn it up or down, instead of saying VOL for Volume...it says LOL...which is fairly amusing. I don't really mind that...but half of the time I try to put cds in they stop halfway and I have to take it out and try again.

Still haven't assembled my bike which came ups from my parents a while ago, I either haven't had time, or just wanted to do something else (mostly haven't had time).

Attempting to compile a photo album and might actually print out the pictures for a hands on album as opposed to only on the computer.

Showed pictures of Kassi to my aunt and grandmother the other day, made me miss her a lot.

Made my first run to China House in a while (a while being probably less than a week).

Watched a bunch of movies since I updated my posters, so once you see a change of them on the main page I suggest you go to the posters page and check out what I watched (if you wish of course).

Now for my two days off...

Work
Today was about a 13 hour day...not a 12 as I expected...so I should expect tomorrow to be a 15 hour day...not a 14. Just got home...eating cheesecake, then I go to sleep wake up and go to work at 10.

Then I hope to find something to do for Sunday Monday...otherwise the days off will end up a complete waste, as they probably will, considering I still have no one to hang out with. Unless Mimi (my cousin) wants to go to Chapel Hill to see her friend at UNC. Otherwise my days off will be spent sleeping, sitting by the computer, driving around aimlessly, going to walmart, trying to think of graphics to do (and failing), and eating chinese food...

Chapel Hill
(background music: The Postal Service - Such Great Heights)

Went to Chapel Hill on Tuesday, stayed with my cousin John over night. Had a lot of fun, his apartment is perfectly placed, large health food store up the street, coffee shop with excellent mochas down the street, close to a really cool used book/cd/dvd/record store.

Made my way back on Wednesday morning and picked up my other cousin, Catey, from the airport. Got home, got some lunch and then went to work.

Next weekend is officially going to be hell on earth...my schedule for work goes like this:
Tuesday - 4PM-Close (around 10 or 11 at night)
Wednesday - 4PM-Close (around 10 or 11 at night)
Thursday - 2PM-Close (around 11 or 12 at night)
Friday - 12 Noon-Close (around 11 or 12 at night)
Saturday - 10AM-Close (around 11 or 12 at night)
14 hour day Saturday...I'm gonna be ready to kill someone

Rearranged my room today, gave it a little more space. Although I have to twin beds with really big frames that cause issues, so I tried my best...I'll post a picture tomorrow. Beds are off to the side now instead of basically in the middle of the room...so that's good, have a more direct path from the door to bed/computer/bathroom..so no more wandering around beds or jumping over them.

Ordered a Bokken to do some exercises with. I bought Practice Drills for Japanese Swordmanship in Chapel Hill at that cool used bookstore. Wish I could find a dojo...but there's no chance.

Things in Golsboro:

Walmart is scary here, it's full from about 7am to 1am...lines at every check out lane any time of the day. You only survive at 3 am...and then you deal with the cleaning crew.

Target is excellent, lol

The Chinese grocery store is excellent.

China House restaurant is excellent.

Black churches rule...the group The Gospel Messengers rule

Playstation is a good distraction from loneliness.

Being more than just computer literate can be annoying when it gets out.

Chapel Hill rocks (most of the time literally).

Work is...work.

John works/worked with many bands that I like...Burning Airlines, Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie among many others.

p.s. If you are at the University of Utah (I know many of your are :P), Death Cab will be performing there and John will be there doing sound for them, so check it out if you can.

p.p.s. Ghost in the Shell: Innocence (GITS 2) will be coming out September 19th in some theaters. If you are an anime fan, or want to see some amazing cinema period go see this movie. I have to wait until October until it comes anywhere near here, Greensboro, and that will still be a 2 or 2 and a half hour drive.

Complaints...but oh well
(background music: Modest Mouse - Float On)

First a small intro...I once again have over 6 gmail invites, if anyone wants a gmail account, make an offer (a web link, file hosting...whatever) if I know you...I'll probably give you the account for free, but if I have no idea who you are...I might need a little enticing.

So...back to complaints :)

School!
So let's see...school is boring, people in chorus can't get ride of their southern drawl on "of" and "time" ha! I don't have the disadvantage of a southern accent. The director said that most of the groups he worked with in the mid-west did not have pronunciation problems, instead they had pitch problems. Which I seconded from experience. The only reason I have decent pitch is because I grew up in a fairly musical family and also played viola for three years before starting to sing (my middle name is Beethoven...that says something). I have desires to sing bass...just because it's so EASY...but no, I should sing tenor because there's only one other person who can do it, and I'm only beginning to really hear him sing in class.

Work!
work is...well...work, busy sometimes, slow at others. Today I made a manager mad at me: I am the "liaison" between the chefs and the waiting staff, I tray up food, prepare salads and desserts, and try to catch any fuck ups before they go out, try to make sure everything is right with the tickets (baked potato, rice, mashed potato...I'm still getting the hang of that one). Today the main hostess kept traying food and taking it out, when I am supposed to be in complete control of my area, I wasn't horribly busy so I didn't need any help. She almost took out the wrong food on one or two occasions but I caught her. I asked her to tell me when she was taking food out, just so I would know and be able to basically cross it off my list for waiters to take out (so I'm not looking for someone to take out food that's already gone) she left with some food and then came back in and said "I don't have to tell you, you don't know your job because you haven't been working as long as me, when you have had your job as long as I have, then you can tell me what to do." Which was fairly frustrating. But oh well.

Other Life!
I don't have much of one, I go to class, eat lunch, go to work, come home, watch a movie, go to sleep and do the thing over again. I still don't have any friends unfortunately. I am fairly shy, especially about initiating conversations (once the conversation is started...then I'm usually pretty good, if not great). Getting lonely.

Blog!
Blog has not been updated graphically from lack of inspiration awww...poor me. Plus I am not getting many comments (of course there usually are some slow times for comments and then a bunch...and then none again).

Oh...looks like Kassi's mom is looking up my blog again (trying to get the dirt...lol). I believe so because I got a search for my name on google from one of the school district's servers, gotta love IP addresses. So hello Kassi's mom if it is you! You know of course that if you do have any questions to ask me about me, or Kassi...or anything else, even just to say hello...I'm here and you can call (if you check the blog again soon). My number is 919-222-7228, but I'm usually busy from 3 to 11 eastern time with work. That goes for anyone else who wants to get in touch with me for that matter, I would love to hear from a friend...brightens up my day a bit...a big bit.

By the way...the best search that came up with my blog as a result today was "people that hate the artist formerly known as prince" on Ask Jeeves, interesting. Gah, Still trying to find out a way to fix the wireless connection I have, it kicks me off sometimes and I'm not sure why.

Will post again soon I hope, going to bed soon now...have appointment in the morning to check out the front end of my car, the tire is rubbing against something and can actually pull my car one direction if it catches on it...eek...
